  • Question: Do I need to register for programs and classes at the Cancer Wellness Center?
  • Answer: Yes, all programs and classes require registration at 847-509-9595.
  • Question: How can I learn more about the programs and services at the Center?
  • Answer:  Call the Center at 847-509-9595 during regular business hours to learn about the programs and services we offer.  If you would like to meet in person with a clinician to learn more about the Center or would like to receive a tour, please call the above number to set up a meeting with a staff member. 
  • Question: How do I get connected for counseling services or go about joining a support group at the Center?
  • Answer:  In order to get connected for counseling or group services, call the Center at 847-509-9595 during regular business hours.  A member of our clinical team will speak to you regarding your needs and gather all of the necessary information to get you connected for services.
  • Question: What is the difference between a Cancer Discussion Group and a Support Group?
  • Answer: A Cancer Discussion Group provides an opportunity to share practical information with other survivors and family members living with a similar diagnosis. No registration is required for these groups, where the focus is on the physical aspects of a cancer diagnosis, i.e., treatments, symptoms and side effects. A Support Group is a committed group that focuses on the life-altering impact of a cancer diagnosis. There are separate groups for people with a cancer diagnosis and their significant others. For more information about joining a Support Group, please contact the Center at 847-509-9595.
  • Question: Can I drop in to one of the Support Groups?
  • Answer: No. Support groups are committed groups and require prior registration through contact with the group facilitator. Interested participants should contact the Center at 847-509-9595 for more information about joining a Support Group.
  • Question: How can I give back to the Center?
  • Answer: In addition to donating to the Center, committed participants may volunteer their time by contacting the Center at 847-509-9595. Another way to give back is by accessing Amazon through our website, which donates a portion of the sale to the Cancer Wellness Center.
  • Question: What kind of treatment does the Cancer Wellness Center provide?
  • Answer: The Cancer Wellness Center provides psychosocial support in the form of Featured Programs and Events, Educational Programs, Wellness Activities for Your Mind, Body and Spirit, Cancer Specific Discussion Groups, Support Groups, and individual, couple and family counseling through the family room™ program. The Center does not provide medical treatment, medical advice or physician referrals.
  • Question: How much do the services at the Cancer Wellness Center cost?
  • Answer: Nothing. All programs and services are offered to anyone impacted by the cancer experience at no charge.
  • Question: Who can participate in the Cancer Wellness Center's programming?
  • Answer: Anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis. This includes anyone diagnosed with cancer, significant others, family members and friends of a cancer survivor.
  • Question: Are there programs for children?
  • Answer: Yes. We offer child and family counseling through the family room™ program, information and resources through our library and work with schools and families about communicating with children about the cancer experience.
  • Question: I don't live in the Chicago-land area. Are there other centers like the Cancer Wellness Center around the country?
